From Jorcar, we also wanted this year participate in La Marató de TV3, dedicated to raising funds for infectious diseases.
As of usual, we have provided a substantial monetary amount so large clinical and research centers have funds to fight so much against this as for other many diseases.
Infectious diseases are the cause of 1 of every 3 deaths in the world and are an important public health problem. They are caused by pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa) that enter the body and multiply until they produce disease.
Each microorganism installs and proliferates in a place other than the human body, depending on their route of entry and features. People who carry prosthetic orthopedic or neurological or cardiac valves have an added risk for opportunistic infections in these permanent devices.
Most infectious diseases are transmitted from a few individuals to others and can affect anyone.
Everyone will have several infections throughout their life. Most are minor, but some are very serious and can lead to death quickly.
The Foundation La Marató de TV3 was created in 1996 by the Catalan Corporation of audiovisual media with the Mission of encouraging and promoting biomedical research of excellence, as well as the social awareness about the diseases that are treated in the program television TV3 Marathon, through campaigns of participation citizen and acts of dissemination and education.
